FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does it work?
KEEP is a tangible communication object designed to carry messages that matter. Someone writes you a note in the KEEP app — text, a drawing, or a sticker. You get a notification on your phone, tap your phone to KEEP for about two seconds, and the message transfers via NFC and appears on the e-ink screen. Once shown, it stays visible — until you decide to swap it.
Does it need to be charged?
No. The e-ink screen only consumes power when the message updates. Once shown, it holds the image indefinitely — without a battery on board.
Does it need WiFi or Bluetooth?
No. The keychain has no WiFi, no Bluetooth, no internet on the device. Updates are local, over NFC. An internet connection is only needed inside the app, when someone is composing a note for you.
Which phones work with it?
iPhone 7 and newer, plus any Android phone with NFC capability for third-party apps. If your phone is older or budget-tier, check its specs for NFC support.
Can several people send notes to the same KEEP?
Yes. Invite as many people as you want from the app. A partner, a parent, a kid, a friend across the world — same keychain, many voices.
What can I send?
Text, drawings, and stickers — black-and-white, postcard-sized. Anything that fits on a 2.13″ e-ink screen.
Is it water-resistant?
Yes — KEEP is water-resistant and scratch-resistant, so a sudden rain, a spilled coffee, or a wet pocket won’t hurt it. That said, it’s not made for the washing machine — please take it off before laundry day.
When will my KEEP ship?
The Kickstarter launches in June 2026. The first 500 to join the waitlist get a guaranteed delivery in September 2026. Everyone else ships in batches through the end of the year.
How long does a message stay visible?
Forever, or until you swap it. E-ink holds an image with zero power, so the note remains on the screen even when KEEP sits in a drawer for weeks.
Can I engrave my KEEP?
Yes — engraving will be available as a backer perk on Kickstarter. The 2,881 original Lovebox backers from 2017 get free engraving on theirs, as a small thank-you for the people who started it all.
